Bona Maria Sforza -the Queen of Poland

PART II

Queen Bona Bona Sforza, the Queen of Poland and the Great Princess of Lithuania and also the heiress of the Italian throne of Bari and Rossano, appears to historians as a very controversial figure. On one hand, Bona has been often criticized for her lack of scruples while achieving political goals and was blamed for contributing to the death of her daughter-in-law Barbara Radziwill. The vast territories of the Kingdom of Poland and The Great Duchy of Lithuania intimidated Bona. She could not get used to the dominant position of the noble class in her new country of residence. However, it did not take very long before Bona assimilated in the new reality and got involved in politics and economics of the new country. She was intelligent, well educated and her aspirations went beyond the traditional role of royal wife and mother. […]
