Chicago Children’s Museum Celebrates Passport to the World : Persia
Chicago’s Persian community showcases local talent and celebrates Norooz, the Persian New Year
Chicago, IL– Chicago’s children and families will come together at Chicago Children’s Museum on March 12, 14 & 15 to celebrate Chicago’s Persian community with Passport to the World: Persia. Over 75 performers are scheduled for this spring celebration.
The celebration of the Norooz is the first day of spring at the Spring Equinox. The word Norooz, meaning New Day, is the most anticipated celebration in the Persian culture. The celebration is one of hope, promise and good fortune. Visitors will be introduced to the traditional Persian New Year spread, Haft Seen-Haft Sheen, egg painting, music and dancing, and a special visit from Amoo Norooz, or “Uncle New Year.”
Programming begins on Thursday, March 12, 5:00 p.m.—8:00 p.m., and continues Saturday, March 14, 11:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 15, noon—3:00 p.m. Activities are appropriate for all ages.
