NEWS from THE POLISH AMERICAN CONGRESS
Brooklyn, N.Y….The Senate and Assembly of New York State will officially proclaim Monday, April 20th as “Polish American Congress Day.”
N.Y. Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith (2nd from left) greets the delegation from the Downstate N.Y. Division of the Polish American Congress at a recent reception held in the Senator’s home district in Queens, N.Y.
Delegations from the three Polish American Congress State Divisions based in New York will meet members of both legislative houses at the State Capitol in Albany on that day.
President Richard Solecki will lead his Western N.Y. Division to the meeting along with President Theresa Bunk’s Central N.Y. Division. Representing the Downstate N.Y. Division headquartered in Brooklyn will be a delegation headed by Frank Milewski.
The presentation of an official State Proclamation honoring the Congress has been influenced by three Polish American legislators from the upstate area: Senator George Maziarz, Senator William Stachowski and Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak.

President Obama met with President Lech Kaczynski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk on April 5 in Prague, where they were attending the European Union summit.
The three leaders discussed a full range of issues. The President underscored his support for missile defense – provided that it is proven, that it is cost-effective, and that the threat against which it is designed remains – and Polish defense modernization, including a Patriot battery in Poland. After the successful climate change conference in Poznan in December 2008, the President proposed continued cooperation on energy independence and very robust steps toward combating climate change. President Obama accepted the Polish leaders’ invitation to visit Poland in the future. President Obama declared, “the relationship between the United States and Poland is one of the strongest in the world…. I’m confident that on issues ranging from security to energy to economics, that by working together we’re going to be able to make both our countries more prosperous and more peaceful for future generations.”

The one thing that never changes is that these culinary delights are the first food sampled after coming home from mass on Easter morning. The 40-day Lenten fast is officially broken with the sharing of blessed Easter eggs.

Francja jest przykładem państwa, w którym kryteria obywatelstwa przeszły od „jus soli” czyli według miejsca urodzenia do „jus sanguinis” czyli według pochodzenia etnicznego, które to kryterium zostało ustalone w konstytucji francuskiej z września 1791 roku, kiedy król Ludwik XVI ją zatwierdził. Polska konstytucja 3go maja 1791 roku była najwcześniejszą formalną konstytucją państwową w Europie i drugą na świecie po amerykańskiej z września 1787 roku, która była konstytucją federalną, raczej niż konstytucją państwową w stylu europejskim. unitary Francuski kodeks cywilny z 1803 roku zdefiniował kryteria obywatelstwa, według miejsca urodzenia oraz automatyczne prawa obywatela dla urodzonych we Francji. Kodeks ten miał wpływ na całą kontynentalną Europę włącznie z Polską.
