Tak naprawdę było

 

Za datę rozpoczęcia wojny przyjmuje się dzień 1 września 1939 roku. Nikt jednak nie przypuszczał w chwili jej wybuchu, że istnieje pakt Ribbentrop- Mołotow, który dawał Niemcom i Rosjanom wolną rękę w prowadzeniu zbrojnej agresji w Polsce.

Change of heart

Recently Professor Krzysztof Jasiewicz had a change of heart in contrast to what he wrote in 2001 in a book entitled “First after the devil,” (“Pierwsi po diable”). It is a symbolic change of heart of a Polish historians. The book “First after the devil” mentioned as supposedly typical Polish exaggerations in the reports of massive Jewish collaboration in the imposition of Soviet rule in postwar Poland.

The 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War was commemorated in Gdańsk, where German battleship Schlezwig-Holstein on a “goodwill visit” on September 1, 1939 at 4.45 a.m. fired the first shots of the war with its 16 inch guns aiming at Polish military base on the peninsula of Westerplatte in the free city of Gdansk. On September 1, 2009 European heads of governments gathered on Westerplatte, to commemorate and honor the anniversary of WWII.

 The national memory stored in Poland does not include arrivals of the forefathers of the Poles from some faraway lands because apparently the national identity of the Poles was formed in the basin of the Vistula River, in the great central European lowlands in the vicinity of the steppes of Ukraine and of Russia where the original Proto Indo-European language was developed and used already some 5500 years ago.
